» Nenad: Going back home for a lonely widower

Nenad was born in Dreznica in the municipality of Ogulin, Croatia. Until recently, he was accommodated in the Collective Center in Pancevo. There, he found himself in a very difficult situation. No matter how hard he tried, he wasn’t not able
to find any work.

He came to Serbia after the ‘Storm’ operation of 1995. On his escape from Croatia, his wife was killed. He lived
in the collective center all the time since, without any documents. As a result of his wife's death, his psychical condition
is very bad. Since he was living as a single widower in Serbia, he didn’t belong to the category of refugees that is eligible
for a construction loan or any other durable accommodation.

He addressed the local Microjustice Facilitator for help. With this assistance, he obtained his citizenship certificate and other documents. With the citizenship certificate, Nenad was able to obtain a travel document to Serbia and Montenegro and to return to his father’s property in a village in Croatia.
